Fireproof

"Fireproof" is a very good movie! Caleb Holt (Kirk Cameron,) a firefighter in Albany Georgia fights fires daily, but in his own home his marriage is burning down. But just when divorce from his wife, Catherine Holt (Erin Bethea) seems the only way out, Caleb's father (Harris Malcom) dares Caleb to make a forty day journey to save the marriage. What follows is a dramatic, humorous, and convicting tale of a man striving to save his marriage.

The third feature film by the Kendrick Brothers and Sherwood Pictures, "Fireproof" is likely their best yet. Kirk Cameron did a great job acting his part, much better than his work in the "Left Behind" series. The humor was enjoyable and the plotline effective, but some of the lines (especially when someone was giving advice,) seemed quipped. But the message of the film - the beauty of the work that the Kendrick Brother's have constructed - is well worth any of the flat lines, the less-than-Hollywood-quality cinematography, and the (by majority) boring music score.

The film has very few moral issues to worry about. There is no language in the film. Violence is scarce, only involving a somewhat bloodied, injured girl in a car wreck. Some outfits that Catherine Holt wears are less-than desirable, (woman's business skirt, romantic red dress,) but overall they are easily accepted by today's Christian audience. Intense drama is apparent in the film, including peril, which some sensitive viewers may find hard to stomach.

I hope you enjoy the film as much as I did. The conviction is good!
