narnia
Nearly every kid in the free world grew up with "The Chronicles of Narnia." Not only has Narnia made its mark in literature, it has become an iconic piece of culture. The Disney released film kept the integrity of the story reasonable well considering how most book-to-film adaptations do. The allegorical elements of the classic fantasy story are not overt, but they do exist.
On the special effects side of the film Narnia proved to be a disappointment after everything it was hyped up to be. Andrew Adamson did a tremendous job with the computer generated characters in the film, but the painfully obvious green screen mattes it some scenes sold it cheap. The sweeping aerial shot of the kids going over a natural land bridge followed by a close up of Peter matted to a green screen betrayed the quality of the film. The enormous budget and visual effects did not make for the epic story that C.S. Lewis wrote. Although the epic nature of the story fell short in the movie, Narnia proved to be a success despite the challenges.
